What
is Omega-3?
Origin-A's Omega-3 capsules, taken as a nutritional supplement,
are a natural source of the marine lipid Omega-3 Marine Triglycerides,
extracted from cold water fish.
Essential
Nutrients
Omega-3 is deemed an essential nutrient for maintaining good health,
normal growth and development but unfortunately the human body does
not naturally replenish the Omega-3 it uses. Therefore, Omega-3
must be obtained through your daily dietary intake or through the
use of an Omega-3 supplement such as Origin-A's Omega-3. Each Omega-3
capsule contains two essential polyunsaturated fatty acids, Eicosapentaeonic
Acid [EPS] and Docosahexaenoic Acid [DHA].
Functions
of Omega-3
One of the critical functions of Omega-3 is found in the body's
most basic unit - the cell. Human cells absorb various raw materials,
processes them and then send this processed material to the required
destination within the body. A shortage of Omega-3 reduces the cell's
ability of efficiently perform their function leading |
nutrient
starvation and chronic and debilitating diseases.
Omega-3 is also
converted into another class of chemical called Eicosanoids, the
most critical of which are Prostaglandins. Prostaglandins operate
within most tissues to regulate most bodily functions such as cardiovascular,
digestive and immune system. If the diet is inadequate, the Omega-3
prostaglandins produced in the bodies are either lacking or unbalanced,
leading to disease in the body's most vital systems.
Cholesterol
and "Omega-3"
Omega-3
has also found to modulate the movement of cholesterol through the
blood system. Some researchers have reported that Omega-3 tends
to change the balance of cholesterol in the blood by lowering the
"bad" and raising the "good" cholesterol. Omega-3
is therefore believed to be essential to good health and normal
development of both the foetus and newly born infants. Omega-3 polyunsaturated
fatty acids will remarkably lower plasma triglycerides even in healthy
people. |
